Murrayfield Magic Tag Tournament 2009.

2 May 2009

The Lost Loiners travelled to Edinburgh to represent the Rhinos in the Murrayfield Magic Tag Tournament and were joined by Gary Mercer (and son Zac) and Alan Tait. We were drawn in a group with Huddersfield Giants, Salford City Reds and Wakefield Wildcats.

After finishing top of the group with three wins from three games, the Loiners progressed to the semi finals and a game against Hull FC.. In a close game the Loiners came out on top by 3 tries to 2 to make it into the final against local rivals Castleford, who had defeated a Scottish select side.

The final was an extremely close game with both defences on top. Scoreless at full time, the game went into sudden death extra time. Unfortunately, Castleford got the vital try thanks to their guest player Jamie Bloem.

A fun day was had by, and the Lost Loiners look forward to representing the Rhinos again in next year’s tournament.
